Impact Player rule in focus in captains' meet
Mumbai, March 26 -- In the IPL Captains' Meeting held at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai, on Wednesday, the Impact Player rule was one of the main points of discussion, with some captains expressing reservations about it.
While this IPL will have the same playing conditions as last season, the customary meeting was held to ensure clarity and uniform understanding of rules among all the team leaders.
In 2024, the BCCI had extended the Impact Player rule in the IPL until 2027. But, not everyone is convinced about the rule as it is affecting the role of all-rounders. During the one-and-a-half-hour meeting, Javagal Srinath, head of the BCCI's match referees, and Nitin Menon, head of the umpires' panel, held discussions with all the 10 IPL captains.
One key rule concerns ball replacement. The team bowling second can request a change of ball once after the 10th over in the second innings of evening games, regardless of the amount of dew on the outfield....
