New Delhi, May 28 -- The Centre on Wednesday approved a significant boost in personnel for the Enforcement Directorate (ED), raising its sanctioned strength by 60% from 2,029 to 3,256 personnel, a move officials said was "much needed" in view of the growing number of cases. As of March 31, ED has registered a total 8,851 PMLA cases, arrested 1,187 individuals, filed 2,396 charge sheets and attached properties worth over Rs.2.36 lakh crore.
