Garage worker who bought Rs.25-lakh plot among eight accused
Ayodhya, July 1 -- Some of the eight men arrested in connection with the alleged irregularities in Ram Temple donations were allegedly building grand houses on expensive plots, recently purchased prime parcels of land in Ayodhya, drove luxury cars or operated large hostels, according to people familiar of the matter.
One of the eight - Lavkush Mishra - worked at a garage, making seat covers for vehicles till a year ago, before joining the team handling cash donations and collection, said the people.
But in February, he allegedly purchased a 1,024-square-foot plot in Saadatganj on Faizabad Road - worth Rs.25 lakh, according to the people cited above - in his wife Supriya's name. According to neighbours, construction work on the plot began in late February. Till now, the ground floor and first floor are almost complete and wiring and plumbing work is underway.
A resident of Phagauli Thakuran village in Sujaganj under Rudauli Kotwali, Lavkush Mishra is the son of an ordinary farmer with little agricultural land and made less than Rs.20,000 a month, said the people. At least Rs.16 lakh in cash hidden in cow-dung cakes was allegedly recovered by investigators from Lavkush's ancestral house, said the people. His brother-in-law and co-accused - Anukalp Mishra - allegedly recently bought a house worth around Rs.50 lakh in Kaushalpuri on the Ayodhya bypass, and owned a luxury vehicle, said the people.
Ram Shankar Yadav 'Tinnu' has an ancestral house in Ayodhya, allegedly operates a 14-room hostel, and owns a Bullet motorcycle and a luxury car. Rama Shankar Mishra allegedly owns a high-speed motorcycle.
A police officer on the investigation team said that Lavkush's father's mobile phone revealed a recent payment amounting to lakhs of rupees was made to someone. Further inquiry found that a piece of land was purchased a few months ago. The eight men arrested so far include Anukalp Mishra, Lavkush Mishra, Ram Shankar Yadav 'Tinnu', Manish Yadav, Subhash Srivastava, Avinash Shukla, Rama Shankar Mishra, and Karunesh Pandey....
