Mumbai, Oct. 30 -- A month after Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Pradeep Purnekar was murdered at his office in Thane, former Thane mayor and Shiv Sena leader Meenakshi Shinde resigned from her position, saying she did not want party chief Eknath Shinde to face criticism because of her. Purnekar's family has accused Meenakshi Shinde and her husband, Rajendra, of orchestrating the murder, though the couple has not been named in the FIR. In her resignation letter to Shinde, Meenakshi Shinde said, "I cannot even bear the thought that I should become the reason for the defaming of the very leadership whose honour I have worked to uphold throughout my career."
