Fire breaks out at Terminal 1; none hurt
Mumbai, April 10 -- A fire broke out inside terminal 1B of the Mumbai airport due to a short circuit on Thursday evening. The fire was reported at 6.10pm and confined to the ground floor of the three-storey building. It was extinguished by 9.20pm, following a joint operation between the Mumbai fire brigade and Airport Rescue and Fire Services.
No one was injured in the incident and airport operations were unaffected by the fire, a spokesperson said, though sources in the fire brigade and various airlines claimed 11 flights were delayed.
Fire brigade officers said there was a lot of smoke and five smoke exhausters had to be pressed into service. Some passengers reported feeling uncomfortable due to the smoke and were evacuated by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), officials said....
