Mumbai, April 10 -- A fire broke out inside terminal 1B of the Mumbai airport due to a short circuit on Thursday evening. The fire was reported at 6.10pm and confined to the ground floor of the three-storey building. It was extinguished by 9.20pm, following a joint operation between the Mumbai fire brigade and Airport Rescue and Fire Services. No one was injured in the incident and airport operations were unaffected by the fire, a spokesperson said, though sources in the fire brigade and various airlines claimed 11 flights were delayed. Fire brigade officers said there was a lot of smoke and five smoke exhausters had to be pressed into service.
