Mumbai, June 25 -- Information Technology (IT) firms, IT-enabled Services (ITeS) firms and data centres in Maharashtra have been exempted from paying electricity duty under the state's Information Technology and Information Technology Enabled Services Policy, 2023, and the Integrated Green Data Centre Parks Policy. The benefits, notified by the industries department on June 22, are based on the category and location of industries. Under the policy, eligible IT and ITeS establishments will receive electricity duty exemptions ranging from 10 years to permanent waivers, while data centres have been given 20-year exemption from electricity duty.
