Eatery manager killed after auto takes illegal U-turn
MUMBAI, May 19 -- A manager at a Bandra-based eatery was killed after an autorickshaw allegedly took an illegal U-turn and collided with his motorcycle near the Airoli bridge on the Eastern Express Highway in Mulund East on Sunday. The autorickshaw driver fled the spot after the accident, police said.
The deceased, identified as Mital Patil, 32, worked as a manager at the House of Paloma restaurant in Bandra.
According to the police, Patil was riding towards Thane on the northbound lane of the highway when the accident occurred.
His elder brother, Karan Patil, filed a complaint after he received a call informing him about the accident.
"A person identified as Ashish Shrivastav informed the complainant that his brother had met with an accident near the Airoli bridge and was rushed to the Hospital," said a police officer.
He suffered severe head injuries and was taken to the hospital by passersby and vehicle owners, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
A case has been registered under sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving on a public way) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023....
