CRED founder Kunal Shah to take over as Whatsapp CEO
New Delhi, June 23 -- Kunal Shah, founder and CEO of Indian fintech company CRED, will become the next head of WhatsApp, succeeding Will Cathcart, who has led the messaging platform since 2019, Meta announced on Monday.
The appointment marks the first time an Indian entrepreneur will lead WhatsApp, which has over 3 billion global users.
"Kunal built CRED into one of India's most important technology companies, and he brings the kind of builder mentality and global perspective that will serve him well in running the world's biggest messaging app," Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said.
