Container truck falls into metro construction pit; driver injured
MUMBAI, July 27 -- A container truck carrying 25 tonnes of waste tyres fell into a 15-foot-deep pit near Dosti Imperia on Ghodbunder Road on Sunday morning. The container was travelling from JNPT to Gujarat.
The accident occurred around 6am when the driver, Amit Yadav, 30, lost control of the vehicle and it plunged into the pit, according to the Thane Municipal Corporation's Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC).
The pit had been dug by the MMRDA to store water for an ongoing metro project.
Disaster management and fire brigade teams rescued Yadav, who suffered minor injuries and was examined by a TMC medical team before being handed over to the Chitalsar police. The MMRDA has since barricaded the area and begun removing the truck....
