MUMBAI, Sept. 11 -- The CBI has booked two Mumbai-based construction firms following a Supreme Court directive ordering an investigation into allegations of criminal conspiracy, cheating and misconduct involving builders across the country. The cases against Skylink Hospitality LLP and Ozone Homes Private Limited were registered on Tuesday, with officials of a home finance firm booked, CBI officials said on Thursday. The first case followed 10 petitions filed by different homebuyers who alleged that Skylink, which launched a Santacruz project in 2017-18, colluded with finance firm officials and marketed a "No pre-EMI till delivery of possession" scheme. The FIR alleged the project was neither completed nor buyers were refunded. The second FIR made similar allegations against Ozone Homes over its Wadala project launched in 2017-18. The Supreme Court, in its August 6 order, directed the CBI to investigate allegations cited in a special leave petition and documents in an amicus curiae report, which alleged buyers were induced to pay for projects that remained incomplete.
