MUMBAI, Sept. 22 -- The Tardeo police investigating Sunday's BMW crash on the Coastal Road have found that the deceased driver, 21-year-old Shanay Falgun Gajjar, was allegedly involved in a drunken brawl outside 145 Cafe and Bar in Bandra West last month and had also been booked for rash driving at Breach Candy. The BMW has pending e-challans for speeding, blocking a road and jumping a signal. Police said Gajjar was booked with Davin Sharma, 24, Dhurav Gupta, 21, and Gaurav Yadav, 23, after the August 20 incident outside 145 Pub. A Bandra police constable found the pub open at 1:40am while checking establishments for closing compliance. When he attempted to take the manager to the police station, the four allegedly opposed him and got into a brawl. An offence was registered under Section 221 of the BNS, and provisions of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act. Police also found Gajjar had been booked for speeding on March 28 after Omkar Shirke complained that a BMW had sped past him while he travelled from Breach Candy Hospital towards Mahalaxmi. Shirke confronted the driver near Mahalaxmi temple, leading to an argument. Gamdevi police registered a case under Sections 125 and 281 of the BNS and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act. In Sunday's crash, Tardeo police booked Gajjar under Sections 106, 281 and 125 of the BNS. Police are awaiting his blood report to determine whether he was drunk.
