Banks mobilise $127 bn deposits from NRIs: RBI
Mumbai, Sept. 3 -- The RBI's FCNR(B) scheme drew $127.2 billion from non-resident Indians, accounting for 93.3% of the $136.4 billion raised under its dollar-inflow initiative by August 31. The surge in dollar deposits significantly boosted banking-system liquidity, reducing banks' dependence on short-term wholesale funding.
