Amputated leg found stuck in wheels of Amritsar-CSMT Express
MUMBAI, July 18 -- An amputated human leg was found stuck in wheels beneath a coach of the Amritsar-CSMT Express during routine maintenance at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) coaching yard early on Friday.
Following the discovery, the Government Railway Police (GRP) has launched an investigation.
The severed leg, cut below the knee, was spotted around 6 am by cleaning staff while washing the train.
The CSMT Government Railway Police (GRP) rushed to the yard, carried out a panchnama and sent the body part to St George's Hospital for examination. Police have lodged an accidental death report in the case.
Railway officials said the discovery was made during the scheduled maintenance of Train No. 11058 before it was prepared for its next run as Train No. 22159.
The leg was found trapped beneath the trolley of the M2 coach during an undergear inspection.
The GRP is now tracing where the body part may have become lodged by examining accidental death cases reported along the train's route.
"We are checking all the accidental death cases along the route of the train to identify to whom the leg belonged and the cause of death," said a GRP officer....
