Mumbai, Sept. 12 -- The Pune district administration withdrew its decision to impose a 13-day blanket liquor ban during Ganeshotsav after the high court questioned its rationale and called it "arbitrary". The court said such blanket bans were unwarranted, saying, "We deprecate such practice of imposing blanket bans." the court noted that not everyone who drinks causes a law-and-order problem. The court observed that action could be taken against anyone creating trouble, regardless of whether they had consumed alcohol.
