9 trans persons in hosp after drinking phenyl
MUMBAI, Oct. 21 -- Nine members of the transgender community were admitted to hospital after they allegedly consumed phenyl at their home in Vikhroli Parksite on Sunday afternoon. Phenyl is a household cleaning liquid and disinfectant. According to sources at Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar, the transgender group, all residents of the same locality, were brought to the hospital in the afternoon after neighbours alerted local authorities about the incident.
Doctors said the group was immediately admitted for observation. "Due to phenyl poisoning, they were not given anything orally and were only administered fluids to counter the poisoning. Their condition is stable and they are likely to be discharged by tomorrow," said a senior doctor.
Police visited the hospital throughout the day to record statements from the transgender persons and check on their health.htc...
