MUMBAI, Aug. 20 -- The Mumbai Police coastal wing rescued nine fishermen after their fishing boat developed an engine failure and began taking on water nearly 25 nautical miles off the Mumbai coast on Wednesday morning. The incident came to light after deputy commissioner (transport) Nimba Patil received an alert from the South Control Room. He immediately alerted the coastal wing, which dispatched Static Boat No. 15 to the spot around 11am. Sub-inspector Dharmendra Kumar of the coastal police wing said the rescue operation was carried out despite rough sea conditions. "The sea was rough, yet we dispatched a boat to rescue them at 11am.
