MUMBAI, July 19 -- An 80-year-old man has been booked for allegedly driving negligently after his car rammed into and killed an unidentified pedestrian at Appa Parab Chowk in Bandra West on Friday afternoon. Police identified the accused as Rashid Jal Khambatta, a resident of the Mount Mary area near Mehboob Studio. According to the Bandra police, the accident took place around 4 pm. Responding to the alert, constable Suraj Mhatre reached the spot and found the victim lying on the road with serious head injuries. The Maruti Suzuki Ignis involved in the accident had also sustained damage. The injured man was taken to Bhabha Hospital in an autorickshaw, where doctors declared him dead. According to the police, the identity of the deceased is yet to be established. Police have registered a case against Khambatta under sections 106 (causing death by negligence), 125 (acts endangering human life or personal safety) and 281 (rash or negligent driving on a public way) under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023....
