BENGALURU, July 10 -- Seven people were killed and two others were injured after the multi-utility vehicle they were travelling in collided head-on with a lorry in Karnataka's Uttara Kannada district early on Thursday, police said, adding that the victims were friends who were on a pilgrimage and leisure trip. The collision occurred around 2 am in the Arabail Ghat section near Balagar Cross on the stretch between Yellapur and Ankola, they said. According to police, the group, all gig workers from Dharwad, started their journey on Wednesday night and were travelling to Dharmasthala and Chikkamagaluru. Uttara Kannada superintendent of police (SP) MN Deepan told HT: "A Tempo Cruiser travelling from Yellapur towards Ankola collided head-on with an oncoming lorry at around 2 am, killing seven occupants of the vehicle and leaving two others seriously injured." The bodies were later shifted for post-mortem examinations and will be handed over to the families after legal formalities are completed, police added....
