New Delhi, Sept. 23 -- At least 53 students died across IITs between 2020-21 and 2024-25, with more than half involving students from SC, ST and OBC categories, according to official data accessed by HT. According to the data, IITs reported five student deaths in 2020-21, six each in 2021-22 and 2022-23, followed by 17 in 2023-24 and 19 in 2024-25. Suicides accounted for 84.9% of all deaths.
