38 held hostage in Manipur, says min
India, May 15 -- At least 38 people belonging to the Tangkhul Naga and Kuki communities have been held hostage by various groups following the killing of three church leaders in an ambush by armed miscreants, Manipur home minister Govindas Konthoujam said on Thursday. "More than 38 people from both the communities (Naga and Kuki) were detained by different groups. We are actively holding discussions with civil society groups and political leaders to secure their release," he said. The development comes a day after four people were killed in two separate attacks in Kangpokpi and Noney districts in a suspected militant attack. The deceased included three church leaders from the Thadou-Kuki community and a person from the Tangkhul Chiru community. Meanwhile, normal life continued to be paralysed in several districts by shutdowns called by key Kuki, Zomi and Chandel groups.P8...
