Mumbai, June 26 -- A three-year-old girl died after being electrocuted in the Shanti Nagar area of Wadala on Thursday, police said. The incident occurred shortly after electricity supply was restored in the locality following a two-day power outage. According to police, the victim, identified as Rehana Saddam Hussein Khan, came into contact with a metal staircase near her home. Investigators suspect that a live electric wire had come into contact with the staircase, causing electric current to pass through it. The child was electrocuted when she attempted to climb the staircase. Rehana's mother also suffered minor injuries while trying to rescue her, police officers familiar with the matter told HT. Police have registered an accidental death report (ADR) and are examining whether negligence on the part of any agency or individual contributed to the tragedy.
