22-yr-old stabbed on local by co-passenger
MUMBAI, June 25 -- A fight over closing the door of a local train compartment during heavy rains ended up claiming the life of a 22-year-old man inside the first-class compartment of a Churchgate-Nalasopara local train on Tuesday night.
The victim, Mayank Lohar, and the accused, Roshan Suvarna, 30, had both boarded the train from Andheri station around 10.40 pm when the city was lashed with the season's first monsoon showers.
An argument soon erupted between the two of them over keeping the door closed to avoid getting wet in the rain. Before long, an incensed Suvarna allegedly pulled out a knife from his bag and stabbed Lohar in the chest and stomach three to four times in front of all the co-passengers.
As the train pulled into Borivali station, Suvarna jumped off the coach and fled even before the train could come to a complete halt. Police later tracked him down to Panvel with the help of CCTV footage and arrested him.
