Mumbai, Sept. 16 -- Twenty of Maharashtra's 36 districts have recorded a rainfall deficit of at least 20% this monsoon, with prolonged dry spells damaging Kharif crops and deepening the water crisis, the state cabinet was informed on Tuesday. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis directed officials to begin relief measures for affected farmers without waiting for the crop-damage survey, scheduled to begin from October 5.
