2-year-old stuck in Ujjain borewell dies
India, April 11 -- The body of a two-year-old boy who fell into a 200-foot borewell in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain was recovered on Friday after a 22-hour rescue operation. The boy, identified as Bhagirath Dewasi, died due to drowning, officials said. Ujjain SP Pradeep Mishra said the body was taken to a government hospital in Badnagar. The child had slipped into the borewell on Thursday at around 7.30pm. A rescue operation by joint teams of the state and national disaster relief forces was initiated. On Friday evening, the body was retrieved using iron rods, ropes, and specialised machinery. Medical officials said the boy had died within a few hours of falling into the borewell, with the autopsy confirming drowning as the cause of death.
