12 mn unmapped electors in maha to get notices under S.I.R.
Mumbai, Sept. 5 -- As part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, notices will be issued to 12.2 million electors across Maharashtra who were either not mapped or their records had been flagged for anomalies, the Election Commission said on Friday.
Across the state, 5.9 million electors were unmapped while 6.2 million electors had anomalies in their records, while in Mumbai city, 141,291 electors had anomalies and 317,254 electors were unmapped.
The highest number of electors who will be served notices are in Mumbai Suburban, at 1.6 million, followed by Pune at 1.3 million and Thane at 1.3 million. Among the districts, notices will be served to 866,138 electors in Nagpur, 734,788 electors in Nashik and 509,130 electors in Solapur.
The poll body said efforts would be made to ensure that the hearing process is conducted smoothly....
