India, Oct. 19 -- Twelve retired policemen have been booked in Kanpur after a Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) inquiry found that a robbery case registered in 1991 was fabricated and evidence against 12 men arrested in the case was false, police said. Eighteen policemen were named in the inquiry, but six have died over the years. Officers from the Maharajpur Police had claimed to have foiled a robbery attempt near Narval crossing on GT Road in August 1991.
