A total of Rs.88,47,500 has been collected in fines from the drivers involved, according to a press statement.
The penalties were imposed under section 235 (restriction of dazzling light) of the Maharashtra Motor Vehicles Rules (MMVR) read with section 177 (general penalty provision for punishment of offences) of the Motor Vehicles Act (MVA).

The primary objective of this campaign is to prevent such accidents and ensure safer travel for all citizens, the statement said.
The traffic police have urged all motorists to use low-beam headlights when driving at night, refrain from using unauthorised flashlights, LED bars, or high-intensity fancy lights, and strictly adhere to traffic regulations.
"Road safety is everyone's responsibility. Responsible citizens are encouraged to cooperate with the traffic police to ensure safe travel," said a traffic police officer....
