India, Oct. 1 -- A 23-year-old contract worker was killed and 12 others were injured after a blast at Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited's (MRPL) Coker Hydro Treating Unit in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka on Wednesday, officials said. The explosion occurred at about 12.20 pm when the unit's cold separator, said Dr Rudolph VJ Noronha, chief general manager, corporate branding and corporate communications, MRPL. The firm's emergency response and firefighting teams isolated the affected unit and brought the blaze under control, he added. The deceased was identified as Manish Karkada.
