1,200 huts razed in Mankhurd for new jail complex
Mumbai, May 16 -- A new jail complex will be constructed on 11 acres of government land in Mankhurd after the BMC removed more than 1,200 huts during a special anti-encroachment drive on Friday, minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said.
"The construction of a new jail complex will ease pressure on existing prisons. Mumbai's security and administrative management will benefit significantly from this move," Bawankule said. The land, located along the Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road, was handed over in possession to the superintendent of Mumbai Central Prison in the presence of minister Prabhat Lodha. htc...
