Pune, July 8 -- Pune rural police on Tuesday said they have found no evidence so far to substantiate claims that murder accused Siya Goyal and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, had secretly married months before the alleged killing of realtor Ketan Agarwal. However, investigators have decided to verify the claim. Sandeep Singh Gill, superintendent of police (Pune rural), said, "As of now, we don't have any information about their marriage. There should be something on record-whether at a temple, a date, or witnesses related to the marriage. At this point, these are just loose talks. Yet, we have now decided to investigate it." According to the police, the claim about the alleged marriage surfaced during the investigation and was circulated by some of Chaudhary's friends. Investigators are verifying the information as part of the ongoing probe. Goyal, 20, and Chaudhary, 22, are accused of murdering 25-year-old Agarwal by allegedly pushing him off a cliff at Lohagad Fort on June 18. Police are examining digital evidence recovered from the accused, including mobile phone data and chat records, as part of the investigation into the alleged conspiracy. Investigators suspect Goyal and Chaudhary conspired to eliminate Agarwal because they believed he had become an obstacle to their relationship.
