PRAYAGRAJ, April 7 -- A 20-year-old youth was allegedly strangled to death over a love affair and his body was later hung from a tree to make it appear as suicide in Pratapgarh. The incident took place in Mattupur Bozhi village under Lilapur police station area. The deceased, Pradeep Verma, was found hanging from a tree on the banks of the Sai river on Saturday evening, causing panic among locals. Initially, it appeared to be a case of suicide. However, a post-mortem conducted on Sunday evening confirmed that he had been murdered by strangulation. His body was later hung from the tree to mislead authorities. After the body was brought back to the village, the family refused to perform last rites. They accused the family of a young woman, with whom Pradeep was allegedly in a relationship, of killing him.
