Prayagraj, April 17 -- A young man was shot and critically injured during a dispute over money distribution among a group of youths in Changhaipur village under Delhupur police station area of Pratapgarh. The injured man was shot in the abdomen and rushed to Prayagraj by his family members without informing the police, leading to delays in official action. According to police, Sohail, a resident of Kadaipur, along with Zafrul alias Alghu, Azhar of Changhaipur, and Shoaib alias Saif alias Fahad of Purela Noorpur, had gathered at an orchard in Changhaipur on November 13. During the meeting, a dispute broke out over the sharing of money, following which Sohail was allegedly shot. The police came to know about the incident only on the third day, Wednesday evening. A police team visited Prayagraj to verify the condition of the injured man, but his family failed to submit any written complaint. As the incident was deliberately concealed, Sub-Inspector Markandey Singh Yadav registered a case of attempted murder on his own complaint against all five individuals, including the injured Sohail. SHO Radheshyam said all those involved belonged to the same group and had intentionally hidden the incident. Following the registration of the case, the accused have absconded, and police teams are conducting raids to trace them. A case of attempted murder has been registered on court directions after a man was critically injured in an axe attack in Sarai Mahasingh Purevanshi village under the Jethwara police station area of Pratapgarh. The victim, Dheeraj Pathak, was cutting a dried mango tree on November 25, 2025, when he was allegedly attacked by his rivals with an axe. Despite sustaining serious injuries, the police allegedly failed to act at the time. Following legal intervention, Dheeraj Pathak has now succeeded in getting an FIR registered against four villagers-Sharda Prasad Pathak, Rajnarayan, Premkali, and Preeti Pathak-under charges of attempt to murder.
