Youth shot at in land dispute, police launch probe
PRAYAGRAJ, June 14 -- A young man was critically injured in a shooting incident allegedly linked to a land dispute in Devghat village under the Airport Police Station limits on Saturday morning. The victim lodged a complaint accusing six named individuals and others of attempted murder, prompting the police to initiate an investigation.
According to the complaint, Vinod Singh, a resident of Devghat village, was present at his ancestral farmland when the incident occurred. Two youths reportedly arrived at the spot on a motorcycle, leading to a dispute over a pile of fodder kept in the field. During the altercation, the youth riding pillion allegedly opened fire at Vinod Singh. He sustained serious injuries and collapsed at the scene. Following the attack, Vinod's brother rushed him to Colvin Hospital. In his statement to the police, Vinod Singh alleged that the attack was orchestrated by half a dozen individuals due to an ongoing land dispute. He further claimed that the accused had issued threats to him and his family on multiple occasions in the past, complaints had already been submitted both at the local police station and through the Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS) portal....
