AGRA, Aug. 30 -- A 24-year-old man was arrested on Friday after being booked for allegedly raping and murdering a 21-year-old Dalit woman who worked in Gurugram, said police on Saturday. According to police, the victim was returning home from Gurugram on Thursday when the accused, along with his accomplice, allegedly invited her to a hotel to celebrate his birthday, where she was allegedly raped and killed. According to Shekhar Senger, deputy superintendent of police (DSP), Shikohabad circle, Firozabad, the victim's father lodged a complaint at Shikohabad police station on Friday, accusing a man known to his daughter of killing her. "Based on the complaint, a case was registered against the named accused, Rahul Yadav alias Nitin Yadav (24), and his associate Abhishek under charges of murder and the SC/ST Act. Efforts were launched to arrest the accused. Rahul was arrested on Friday evening, while a search is underway for his absconding associate, Abhishek," Senger said. The victim had informed her parents on Thursday that she was returning home to Firozabad from Gurugram but would stay overnight at a female friend's house before reaching home. Her father learnt of her death on Friday, following which he suspected foul play and lodged a complaint alleging murder. Based on the complaint, crime case No. 664 of 2026 was registered at Shikohabad police station under Section 103(1) (murder) of the BNS and relevant provisions of the SC/ST Act. The accused, Nitin Yadav alias Rahul Yadav, was arrested from the Shikohabad area. According to a press note issued by the Firozabad police media cell, police recovered sexual performance-enhancing pills and the victim's mobile phone from the accused....
