PRAYAGRAJ, July 19 -- A youth from the Kada Dham area of Kaushambi district alleged that he was forced into bonded labour in Bahrain after being sent abroad on the pretext of securing employment at a meat processing company. Acting on a court order, the police have registered a case and launched an investigation. According to the complaint, Chandbabu, a resident of Swatkhat village in Kada, was approached by Ghulam Warish, a resident of Manikpur Katra in Pratapgarh, who had visited his maternal relatives living in the victim's neighbourhood on June 15, 2025. Chandbabu alleged that Warish promised him a job at a meat processing company in Bahrain and collected Rs 1.15 lakh from him in several installments. The accused subsequently arranged for his travel to Bahrain on June 29, 2025. However, upon reaching Bahrain, Chandbabu claimed he was not provided the promised job. Instead, he was allegedly made to perform manual loading work. He further alleged that he was beaten whenever he protested and was often denied timely meals. The victim managed to return to India on July 18, 2025. After his return, the accused allegedly assured him that either a proper visa would be arranged or his money would be refunded. Chandbabu claimed that when he pursued the matter, Warish began abusing and threatening him and allegedly assaulted him on one occasion.
