LUCKNOW, Aug. 14 -- A silent procession led by chief minister Yogi Adityanath will be held in Lucknow on Friday to commemorate Partition Horrors Remembrance Day (Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas) and pay tribute to those who suffered during the tragedy. According to the programme schedule, the procession will begin at the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the GPO and conclude at Lok Bhawan. Members of families displaced during Partition will share their experiences at the Lok Bhawan auditorium, while an exhibition, live painting and a short film based on the Partition tragedy will seek to convey the pain and struggles of the period to the younger generation. Yogi will also address the gathering. A large number of people are expected to participate in the event, including deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak; Rajya Sabha members Dinesh Sharma and Brajlal; mayor Sushma Kharkwal; MLCs Mahendra Kumar Singh, Mukesh Sharma, Ramchandra Pradhan, Avnish Kumar Singh, Lalji Prasad Nirmal and Umesh Dwivedi; MLAs Rajeshwar Singh (Sarojini Nagar), Neeraj Bora (Lucknow North), Jaidevi (Malihabad), Yogesh Shukla (Bakshi Ka Talab) and OP Srivastava (Lucknow East); BJP state vice-presidents Braj Bahadur and Archana Mishra; BJP city president Anand Dwivedi; and representatives of the Punjabi, Sikh, Sindhi and Bengali communities....
