Yogi honours women with Nari Shakti Award
LUCKNOW, March 9 -- Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath honoured women from across the state with remarkable accomplishments in various fields as he inaugurated 'Pink Rozgar Mahakumbh' here on the occasion of International Women's Day on Sunday.
The chief minister felicitated leading women for their contribution to the vision of 'Shakti Se Samriddhi' (prosperity through empowerment) with the Nari Shakti Award.
Kirti Karamchandani, associate director (HCL Group) who has been doing notable work in the field of public policy for several years, was also honoured with the 'Nari Shakti Award'.
Anandi Agarwal, chairperson of the Women Entrepreneurs' Cell of Indian Industries Association (IIA), was also awarded.
Dr Geetanjali, medical officer in-charge of the Urban CHC in Turiaganj, Lucknow, was also conferred the 'Nari Shakti Award' for her contribution to healthcare services.
Speaking on the occasion, Yogi said that as the country moves towards the centenary year of independence, the government's vision of a "developed India" can only be achieved when half the population, women, actively participates in this resolve with strength and commitment. "For this, it is essential to ensure their participation and empowerment in every sector," he said.
CM Yogi also released a video message extending greetings to all women of the state on International Women's Day. He said that in Indian culture, women are not merely considered the center of family but are regarded as the fundamental inspiration for creation, strength and values.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday interacted with BC Sakhi Sita Devi from Varanasi via video conferencing while attending an event as chief guest in Lucknow.
During the interaction, the chief minister spoke to Sita Devi, a resident of Harsos village, who thanked the government for the benefits she had received under various schemes and said they had helped support her family.
She told Yogi that she delivers food to Anganwadi children using her vehicle and that her initiative has inspired other women in the village to drive e-rickshaws and become self-reliant. In Mirzamurad, part of PM Modi's parliamentary constituency of Varanasi, several women from self-help groups have begun driving e-rickshaws, setting example of self-reliance. htc...
