Lucknow, July 17 -- In a major push to position Uttar Pradesh as a leader in emerging technologies, chief minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to prepare a comprehensive action plan for robotics, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, semiconductors and other frontier technologies. Reviewing the information technology and electronics department on Thursday, the chief minister said the state should move beyond being a consumer of new technologies and emerge as a centre for research, innovation and high-tech manufacturing. As part of this vision, the government plans to develop India's largest integrated robotics and advanced manufacturing centre under the PRAGATI project - Park for Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, GPU Clusters and Advanced Technical Innovation - on about 75 acres in Noida. The proposed facility will house a robotics testing and certification centre, rapid prototyping units, AI compute facilities, a motion capture laboratory, a physical AI data centre, startup incubation spaces and co-working facilities. It is also expected to attract global manufacturers, component suppliers, research and development centres, and specialised service providers. The government will also set up two U-Hub centres of excellence - one each in Lucknow and Noida - with a budgetary allocation of Rs.100 crore for 2026-27. The hubs are intended to bring together research institutions, startups, industry, investors and academia to accelerate deep-tech innovation and commercialisation. The chief minister also directed officials to develop industry-aligned training and certification programmes in artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, cloud computing, semiconductors and data science to equip young people with future-ready skills....
