LUCKNOW, Aug. 15 -- A disciplined bowling performance led by spinners Yash Garg and Zeeshan Ansari propelled the Meerut Mavericks into a commanding position as they bundled out defending champions Kashi Rudras to 118 in the opening match of the UP T20 League Season 4, at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium here on Friday. Meerut Mavericks captain Rinku Singh opted to field after winning the toss, a decision backed by his bowling unit with tight lines and regular breakthroughs. Asked to bat first, Kashi Rudras initiated their innings cautiously, with opener Abhishek Goswami serving as the primary run-scorer. Goswami compiled a measured 42 off 32 deliveries to provide initial stability. However, the innings faltered once spinner Yash Garg struck twice in quick succession, claiming the key wicket of Kashi Rudras skipper Karan Sharma to dismantle the top order.
