Haldwani, July 28 -- A 30-year-old labourer was found dead after his body was discovered buried under a pile of sand at a road construction site in Haldwani on Sunday evening, police said. According to SP City Manoj Katyal, road and drain construction work was underway on Kathghariya road when labourers found the body while shifting a pile of sand that had been brought to the site from a crusher unit in Goraparav. A dumper loaded with sand was unloaded at the construction site on Sunday. Later in the evening, when labourers began moving the sand for construction work, they noticed a human hand and head protruding from the pile. They immediately informed the police, officials said. A police team took possession of the body and sent it for postmortem examination, SP City Manoj Katyal said. The deceased was identified as Pawan Singh, 30, a resident of Jaipur Bisa in Lalkuan, police said. A preliminary investigation revealed on Sunday, Pawan drove the dumper inside the premises. During the loading process, Pawan was placing sacks near the sand discharge point when a JCB machine poured sand from above, burying him underneath....
