Ludhiana, May 20 -- The body of a 29-year-old Punjabi singer and makeup artist was recovered from the Sirhind Canal at Neelon on Tuesday around 11am, six days after she was allegedly abducted at gunpoint in Ludhiana, police said. Inder Kaur, also known as Yashinder Kaur, a resident of Jamalpur in Ludhiana, went missing on May 13 after leaving home in her car to buy groceries, her brother Jotinder Singh said. He accused Sukhwinder Singh alias Sukha, a native of Moga currently based in Canada, his father, Pritam Singh and friend Karamjit Singh of kidnapping her at gunpoint, police said. A senior police officer said preliminary probe revealed Sukhwinder fled back to Canada via Nepal after orchestrating the crime. Dalvir Singh, station house officer (SHO) of Jamalpur police station, confirmed that police teams recovered the body from the canal and later verified the identity of the deceased. Assistant Commissioner of Ludhiana Police, Inderjit Singh Boparai said, "A case has been registered at Jamalpur police station under relevant charges including kidnapping and murder. Sukhwinder's father, Pritam Singh, and his friend Karamjit Singh have been arrested in this case." Further investigation is underway, he added. According to the family, Inder Kaur had quit singing around five years ago and was running a boutique and makeup studio. She had befriended Sukhwinder on Instagram around three years ago. However, relations soured after she learnt that he was already married and had children. She subsequently refused to marry him or continue the relationship, which allegedly prompted him to plot her murder.
