Woman survives 70-day battle after losing lung in road accident
LUCKNOW, May 13 -- What began as a near-fatal road accident in Ayodhya turned into a 70-day fight for survival for 21-year-old Shagun, who lost a lung, battled multiple life-threatening complications, and was brought back from the brink by doctors at King George's Medical University in Lucknow.
Shagun was rushed unconscious to the Trauma Centre on February 28 after sustaining severe chest injuries in the accident. Following the surgery, she was admitted to CCU-2 under the department of anaesthesia, where doctors continued efforts to stabilise her condition.
According to the medical team, one of the biggest challenges was gradually weaning her off ventilator support while she relied on a single lung.
After continuous monitoring and treatment for nearly 70 days, Shagun was shifted from CCU-2 to the Thoracic Ward on Tuesday. Doctors said she is now able to eat, speak and walk with support.
