IMPHAL, Sept. 14 -- A woman was killed while her husband and son sustained bullet injuries in an attack carried out by unknown armed miscreants on Sunday morning in Manipur's Tamenglong district, officials aware of the matter said. According to officials, the incident occurred around 5.30am at Tollen village under Kaimai police station limits.The deceased, Lhingzangai, was shot dead at her residence, they said, adding that her husband, Seineh Singshit, and their son sustained serious bullet injuries. The officials said it is yet to ascertained who are responsible for the attack and no groups have claimed responsibility for the attack. Additional security forces have been deployed in the area despite tension remains in the area. Meanwhile, Kaimai Village Authority expressed strong condemnation against the attack carried out by unknown armed miscreants killing woman, injuring husband and son. The village authority described "the act appears to be a deliberate and malicious attempt to crate disharmony, suspicion and division between the different communities that have long lived together peacefully in this region." The village authority demanded to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice. Both communities (Kuki-Naga) appealed not to spread rumors or provocation that could escalate tension and community leaders, elders and civil society organisations to come forward and reaffirm the bonds of peace and understanding between communities.
