Kanpur, July 23 -- A 20-year-old woman was raped by two men who, along with an accomplice, posed as forest department officials before assaulting her in a forest near the airstrip in Chitrakoot. The survivor, a resident of the Chitrakoot area of Madhya Pradesh had crossed into Uttar Pradesh's Bahil Purwa region of Chitrakoot with her friend on Wednesday. The two had driven to the Devangana valley by bike around 4 pm on Wednesday, parked at a bend, and walked to the rocky terrain behind the airport to talk. Three unidentified men approached them there, claiming to be forest personnel. After a brief round of questioning about their presence, two of the youths pinned the woman's friend down while the other two took turns raping her. The trio fled after threatening to kill the victims. The woman and her friend managed to alert PRV 112, the police emergency response service, soon after the attackers left. A team reached the spot shortly. An FIR has been registered against the three unidentified men at the Bahil Purwa police station. SP Chitrakoot, Arun Kumar Singh said a case has been lodged based on the survivor's initial statement. "Teams from Kotwali Karvi, Bahil Purwa police station and the Special Operations Group, led by ASP Piyushkant Rai and CO City Satyendra Singh, have been formed to trace the accused," Singh said. He added that officers are working to identify the men based on descriptions provided by the victims, and sketches are being prepared. "All aspects of the incident are being investigated," he said....
