Woman killed, husband critical after mishap due to tyre burst on highway
PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 30 -- A 30-year-old woman lost her life and her husband sustained serious injuries after their car met with an accident on the Lucknow-Prayagraj National Highway near Rae Bareli on Friday evening.
The accident reportedly occurred when the vehicle's front tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control.
The deceased has been identified as Ankita Srivastava, daughter-in-law of senior advocate Rakesh Khare of Patti town in Pratapgarh.
Her husband, Vaibhav Srivastava, was injured in the accident and is undergoing treatment.
According to family members, Rakesh Khare's wife had been unwell and had recently been taken to Noida for treatment by their elder son, Vaibhav. Meanwhile, the couple's younger son, Gaurav Srivastava, an engineer based in Indore, had also arrived in Noida with his wife for Raksha Bandhan celebrations after she tied rakhi to her brother.
The family was returning to Patti in two separate cars when the accident occurred. Vaibhav was driving the vehicle, with his wife Ankita seated beside him, while his ailing mother was resting in the rear seat.
Following the tyre burst, the car went out of control and crashed into the road divider.
Local authorities and passersby rushed to assist the victims. Ankita and Vaibhav, both of whom suffered serious injuries, were taken to AIIMS Rae Bareli for treatment.
Doctors declared Ankita dead on arrival, while Vaibhav was admitted for medical care.
Tribal man hacked to death
A 40-year-old tribal man was allegedly hacked to death with an axe near Garhwa village under the Shankargarh police station area of Prayagraj on Friday night.
Police have registered a case against five persons named in a complaint filed by the victim's younger brother and launched an investigation into the incident.
The deceased, Hiralal Adivasi, a resident of Chakraji Garhwa, had gone near Garhwa village for some work when the attack allegedly took place.
According to a written complaint lodged by his younger brother Phoolchandra alias Channe Lal, Hiralal was assaulted by Munnilal, his sons Pappu and Manoj, and daughter Rekha, all residents of Garhwa village, along with Murchan, a resident of Bagdadi village under Manikpur police station limits.
Police officials said the exact circumstances surrounding the killing, as well as the motive behind the crime, would become clear only after the investigation and post-mortem report are completed.
Local residents have pointed to a long-standing dispute between two families of the village as a possible motive behind the killing....
