Woman falls ill climbing stairs at LMC hearing
LUCKNOW, March 7 -- A woman complainant fell ill after climbing stairs to attend a grievance hearing at the Lucknow Municipal Corporation headquarters on Friday, as the building's lift was out of order.
Ram Dulari, a resident of Wazirganj, had come to attend the Sampoorna Samadhan Diwas to raise a grievance regarding a house tax bill of Rs.15,000. She felt breathless after climbing stairs to attend Sampoorna Samadhan Diwas. Staff carried her downstairs on a chair; she recovered after rest.
The incident prompted mayor Sushma Kharkwal to reprimand officials over the lack of basic facilities for citizens who come with their issues during the Sampoorna Samadhan Diwas.
In another incident, Vishnu, a senior citizen from Dariyapur in the Talkatora area, climbed the stairs to the second floor to submit her complaint about a pending house tax bill of Rs.972 for the past three years. Considering her age and condition, the mayor directed officials to resolve her grievance promptly. Vishnu said she lives alone. Ashok Kumar Bhargava, 60, said he visited the municipal office eight times but his issue remained unresolved. Despite his shop being closed for years, authorities imposed a house tax demand of Rs.1.5 lakh.
Meanwhile, Babban Rajbhar alleged a Jalkal clerk encroached on drain land. Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar ordered officials to remove it and report.
Additional municipal commissioner Lalit Kumar said MIS will track complaints for timely resolution; the faulty lift will be repaired soon. htc...
