Jhansi, March 26 -- Police officials are investigating the suspicious circumstances under which a 20-year-old woman died during treatment after allegedly consuming poison on March 19. The cops on Wednesday claimed that the family members of the deceased did not inform the police about the incident. Additional SP Areeba Nomaan said that the victim woman hails from village Pawai falling under Moth police station. "During initial investigations it was found that she had consumed poisonous substance on March 19 after which she was taken to hospital. She was later on referred to Gwalior on Monday but on the way she died late night. Police got the news on Tuesday after which her body was sent for postmortem. We are waiting for the PM report. The way matter was concealed indicates suspicion which is being investigated". Meanwhile sources revealed that the woman, one of three siblings, had been living with her grandparents after her father had passed away over a decade ago and their mother had remarried. The woman had allegedly gone to Chirgaon with one of her cousin sisters a few days ago who later on is said to have eloped with a man. It is being alleged that she was facing backlash over the issue.
