Woman climbs water tank near Alld HC over land dispute
PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 3 -- A 45-year-old woman climbed a nearly 100-foot-high water tank near the Allahabad high court on Friday morning to draw the administration's attention to a land dispute involving a road project and an ancient Hanuman temple in Bhagwatpur.
The woman, identified as Poonam Dubey, a resident of Bhagwatpur under the jurisdiction of the Airport police station, threw down letters detailing her grievances while atop the structure.
Police and administrative officials rushed to the scene, deploying a large force to persuade her to descend safely.
In her letters, Dubey objected to the acquisition of land for a four-lane road project in Bhagwatpur. She claimed the construction encroached upon land surrounding an ancient Hanuman temple and urged the administration to intervene to protect the site and resolve the dispute.
