Haldwani, Feb. 12 -- A 45-year-old woman died after being attacked by a leopard and falling around 60 feet into a deep gorge while collecting fodder from a forest area in Kafi Ghar town of Bageshwar district, people familiar with the matter said. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening when the woman was returning from the forest. Following the attack, she lost her balance and fell into a gorge, resulting in fatal injuries. According to police and local officials, Prem Devi, a resident of Pasdev village, had gone to the Binsar forest to collect oak leaves along with Vimla Devi, another woman from the same village. Pasdev village head Ghanshyam Rana said: "Prem Devi was returning on Tuesday evening when a leopard hiding in the bushes suddenly attacked her. She lost her balance and fell about 60 feet into a deep gorge on the forest edge. Vimla Devi immediately informed villagers about the incident."
