Meerut, Aug. 26 -- Five individuals, including a woman and the son of a retired sub-inspector, were arrested for honeytrapping people and extorting money from them in Bareilly recently, police said. The gang leader was identified as one Akash. The gang's female operative, Honey alias Neha Khan, engaged their victims over phone calls and invited them to hotels or secluded locations. Upon reaching the location, other members surrounded the victim. SP (City) Manush Pareek said the gang has trapped multiple young men through similar honeytrap schemes, but not all victims have lodged complaints. In the latest case, a young man was targeted by Neha Khan, who recorded videos and photos of him. He was then summoned to Hotel Sehgal, where gang members Guddu Banjara, Avadhesh, the son of a retired UP Police S-I, Akash, Mithlesh, and others forced him into a car. The man was assaulted, asked to pay a ransom of Rs 5 lakh and threatened with a false rape case, police said. The complainant gave Rs 30,000 and a gold ring to the gang. Izzatnagar police conducted a raid and arrested Honey, Guddu Banjara, Avadhesh, Akash, and Mithlesh Gangwar. Three more suspects were still at large....
